Travel over time & space for Mr. Darcy :)

Mom & I were lounging in front of the TV on the 2nd day of Chinese New Year. And we’ve stumbled upon a delightful Hallmark movie entitled “Edge of the Garden”. It was a romance movie with…yup, as usual, a twist! Well, to be specific, it’s sort of a time travel romance, which I absolutely adore…, kekeke. After all, nothing like plain old chivalry to enlighten one’s dreamy escapade. Huhu.

And then, after watching the movie, I rushed to download it via the net. However, due to copyright issues and what-not, my effort is useless…for the time being anyway. Yet, I’ve found one fascinating British movie which made me lose my sleep trying to download it. But, IT’S TOTALLY WORTH IT!!

It’s another twisted romance movie, and this time, it’s called “Lost in Austen”. And, it’s not really a movie; it’s a 4-part TV miniseries. It’s about Amanda Price, a modern day working girl who is an avid reader of one of Jane Austen’s masterpiece, which is “Pride & Prejudice” of course. She always dreamt that modern men could be more like the men in Austen’s books. And whadya know? She got her wish! Talk about wishful thinking!!

One night, a strange and unexpected event happened in…of all places, her bathroom! She found a stranger stumbling in the dark in her bathroom. And the stranger is none other than, Miss Elizabeth Bennet herself! For those who know nothing about Austen’s works, Elizabeth Bennet (a.k.a. Lizzie) is the heroine in “Pride & Prejudice”

The story goes like this…well, in some strange twist, Lizzie tricked Amanda into going through the ‘door’ & swapping places with her. Therefore, Lizzie is enjoying herself in the modern world, while Amanda is stuck in literature! Amanda’s modern clothes, way of speaking & mannerisms made her stuck out like a sore thumb. Not to mention the plot of the novel has gone haywire since Amanda’s arrival. This is of course due to Amanda’s meddling in affairs which are not her own which made matters worse & worse and totally…FUN!

What kind of meddlesome things, you say? Well, lemme see…Mr. Bingley who is supposed to be fond of Jane Bennet is somehow interested in Amanda. Then, Jane marries the dastardly disgusting Mr. Collins. Another one is when Amanda eventually discovered that Mr. Wickham is actually a good man who later becomes Amanda’s co-conspirator throughout her attempts in restoring the novel’s plot. Nevertheless, the thing I enjoyed most is that our Mr. Darcy finds himself utterly besotted with the eccentric Amanda, and NOT Elizabeth Bennet (who is by the way, played by the gorgeous Gemma Arterton).

“Not one heartbeat do I forget”

                Aww…I adore Mr. Darcy…hehe.

Anyway, I could hardly recognise the cast. And to tell you the truth, most of the cast members are rather…plain-looking. Amanda Price who is the heroine has some sort of…hmm, lemme see….’fish’ lips? And Mr. Darcy is rather…awfully plain. But, I love them! I love all of the cast members, even the icky Mr. Collins…keke.

If you are a bookworm & most importantly a silly time travel romance buff like me, you seriously need to watch this miniseries. It’s marvellous. 5 stars people…5 stars  :)
